He continued on with a degree in botany, working with Ralph Moore and his roses, and eventually as owner of Condit's Flowers. He also shared his passions by teaching at College of the Sequoias. Stig Lindberg (1916-1982) was a Swedish ceramic designer, glass designer, textile designer, industrial designer, painter, and illustrator. wire on the back ready for hanging.<br />
<br />
Beveled solid wood frame
measures 21" x 17" x 1.25". Visible watercolor measures 13 7/8" x 9
7/8". Double matted in light brown and cream behind glass. Custom framed
at Bob Brooks Creative Framing in Clovis, CA.<br />
<br />

written in pen, "Original painting by Robert Gray from Art Tower
Gallery, Cambria". It is stamped with the gallery's address and has a
photographic image of Gray painting.<br />
<br />
The biographical information
reads, "Robert Gray was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona where he
showed an early interest in art and graphics. In senior high school he
was the winner of the Annual Scholastic Art Achievement Award.<br />
<br />
After
a brief term in the U.S. Navy, he was awarded a scholarship from
Chouinard Art Institute of Los Angeles where he majored in Advertising
Design.<br />
<br />
In the years following art school Mr. Gray operated his
own freelance design studio, serving as a graphic designer and
consultant for numerous companies and institutions throughout the
southland.<br />
<br />
In 1974 Mr. Gray retired from commercial art to devote
himself full time to painting. After experimenting with oils and
acrylics he found watercolors to be the most enjoyable and rewarding and
is currently painting almost exclusively in this media.<br />
<br />
Mr. Gray
has studied under such well-known artists as Rex Brandt, Robert E.
Wood, Morris Shubin, Milford Zornes and Robert Uecker. He has developed a
unique style which reflects the influence of each of these painters but
is dominated by a strong design sense and graphic interpretation which
is all his own. For the brief period of time Mr. Gray has been
exhibiting, his work and name are becoming known in an ever expanding
circle. His paintings may be found in private collections across the
United States and in many foreign countries and is currently exhibiting
in numerous galleries throughout California.<br />
<br />
After twenty-seven
years in the Los Angeles area the Grays have moved their home and studio
to Morro Bay, California where Robert finds a wealth of subject matter
among the wharves, boats, beaches and coves as well as the barns and
rural scenes of central California. From his home base, Robert's
frequent painting trips cover a radius from northern California through
Arizona and south to Mexico.<br />
<br />
Mr. Gray is a true landscape painter
in the sense that all his paintings are done from nature. Those which
are finished in the studio are at least conceived and planned on
location. This continuous return to nature in search of new ideas and
material result in the constantly changing style and fresh, unstilted
approach which marks his works.<br />
<br />
Mr. Gray's busy schedule is
divided between painting, demonstrations, lectures, and conducting
workshops throughout California. His work has been exhibited with
Watercolor West and he is currently a member of the National Watercolor
Society."<br />
<br />
Condition Note: Watercolor in excellent condition.
There are a few small spots and dings to the frame. Frame overall in
excellent condition. Backing paper loosely affixed, worn off with age.<br />

<br />
The
piece is signed and dated, "Dick Daniels, 3/21/52" and measures 35 7/8"
x 23 7/8". The boat appears to be coming in from sea, the water
crashing between the two walls, a quiet cloudy blue sky overhead, and
seagulls above, below, and beside the boat. <br />
<br />
Power lines lines
one wall, with large rocks alongside. There is a hill or mountain on the
other side with a larger rock out towards sea. There is a bit of smoke
coming from the smokestack on the boat and a yellow and green flag
raised at the top of the mast.<br />
<br />
Richard "Dick" Daniels (1925-2008)
was an amateur painter from the Northern California town of Ukiah.
Originally from the nearby coastal town of Fort Bragg, Daniels liked to
paint coastal seascapes. Many of his seascapes were of the Mendocino
coast. ~ The Ukiah Daily Journal<br />
<br />
The boat in the painting is
marked "NOYO". Noyo is an unincorporated part of Mendocino County, one
mile south of Fort Bragg. The Noyo River Harbor is the harbor for Fort
Bragg. Several movies have been filmed in the harbor including, "The
Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming", "Humanoids from the
Deep", "Overboard (1987)" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, and "Dying
Young" with Julia Roberts (Wikipedia).<br />
<br />
Large paintings on wood board or panel were popular in the mid 20th century.<br />
<br />
There are various markings from age and use, discolorations. The upper
right hand corner is chipped. There are scratches and dings to the paint
and wood. There are chips in the paint. Overall good condition.<br />

Original vintage still life painting on canvas, signed Marjorie Sharpe (undated), framed in a gilted gold wooden frame.<br />
<br />
Marjorie Sharpe is a California artist, the daughter of listed artist Marian Barnett, who is known for her paintings of roses. This is a unique piece among Sharpe's roses and coastal seascapes.
The painting features a fruit still life with bananas, grapes, apples, and a guava over a green background.<br />

Measurements: 15.5" Width x 7.75" Height x 1.5" Depth<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
"Marjorie's natural talents (painting and music) were carefully tutored from her earliest years by her famed artist mother, Marian Barnett (1913-1978); at the age of 11 she was advanced enough to study at the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery. Concurrently, she was becoming an accomplished pianist.<br />
<br />
Later, attending La Jolla High School, the University of Washington and Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), Marjorie won various awards, a scholarship in painting and obtained a California State Teacher's Credential for both art and music. Travel in Europe and two years with the Army Special Services in Northern Bavaria helped to polish her art techniques and understanding to a fine point.<br />

Note:
Wear to cardboard backing in frame. Scratches on plexiglass. Possible
fading to original paper. Overall very good condition. Exact paint
medium unknown - looks like gouache.<br />

<br />
Original vintage four pronged brass arch floor lamp from Nova of California.<br />
<br />
The lamp measures 7' 1" in height. The arches are adjustable from side to side; there are knobs at their base to keep them in place. The base measures 20" x 12" x 2".<br />
<br />
The lamp works well in both small and large rooms. There are two
light settings, one lower and one brighter with all four lights on at
the same time. The base can slide under a couch or bed easily for
overhead lighting. <br />
<br />
The brass is scratched in some spots. There is a chip in the corner of the base (please see all photos). The lamp's electricity is fully functional with two settings, one dim and one bright with all four lights on. The base is heavy faux marble.<br />
<br />
NOVA of California is a Southern California lighting company dating back to the 1920s. Founded in 1923, their emphasis is on high quality and style.<br />

<br />
Vintage candle holder with gray enamel, unsigned, likely from Hanova of Pasadena, California.<br />
<br />
Measures 9.5" in length and the candle holder itself is 8.5" in diameter.<br />
<br />
Though this appears to be Hanova, the piece is unsigned. Excellent condition.<br />
<br />
Started in Hollywood, California in the 1960s, Hanova is known for their unique enamelware, texturing enamel onto steel. Each piece was individually fired at 1400 degrees, textured in three separate layers of enamel. The company created a variety of home decor and kitchen pieces, extending themselves into artwork with their abstract sculptural animals and chandelier candle holders.<br />
<br />
This piece showcases the atomic enamelware stylizing of Hanova and would look great displayed on a table or wall. Iconic mid century modern design.<br />

<br />
Fergus
was a known artist and sculptor in Southern California during the 1960s
and taught classes in clay figure sculpture for the public. From the
Arcadia Tribune, February 2, 1967: "The assemblage of wheel-thrown pots
into imaginative figures— a fascinating extension of the pottery media —
will be presented by Ellen Fergus. Time permitting, she will also
demonstrate clay figure sculpture. A graduate of Chouinard, Mrs. Fergus
maintains a studio in Sierra Madre and is an active participant in the
annual Sierra Madre Art Fair."<br />

The Chouinard Art Institute of Los
Angeles was founded in 1921 by Nelbert Murphy Chouinard, and later with
the help of Roy and Walt Disney merged with The Los Angeles
Conservatory of Music to become what is now the California Institute of
the Arts or CALARTS. Famous alumni of Chouinard include designer Bob
Mackie, sculptors Ken Shutt and Noah Purifoy, and painter Millard
Sheets. (Wikipedia)<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3ZcwWxBcJG0/VqLbCf3HxPI/AAAAAAAAPRY/AsMIbB7HA8o/s1600/il_570xN.722745057_bp66.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3ZcwWxBcJG0/VqLbCf3HxPI/AAAAAAAAPRY/AsMIbB7HA8o/s640/il_570xN.722745057_bp66.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Vintage 7.75" x 7.75" painted ceramic tile with an abstract cubist eye, signed "Miro".<br />
<br />
White background with black speckles. The eye and signature are outlined in black and colored in green, blue, yellow, and red.<br />
<br />
This is a great bold piece for a small space.<br />
<br />
There is a hook on the back for hanging. The tile was made in Spain.<br />
<br />
"Joan
Miró was a central figure to the 20th-century avant-garde. The Spanish
artist’s innovative use of line, organic shapes, and color is seen to
represent a major tenet of Surrealist art: to make work that liberates
the creative potential of one’s unconscious mind. His playful imagery
and linear markings bring out the fantastical in his abstract paintings.<br />
<br />
Also a sculptor and collagist, Miró’s influenced much of post-war art,
including Abstract Expressionism and Robert Rauschenberg's work. A move
to Paris in 1920 brought the artist into Surrealist circles, befriending
André Breton and working with Max Ernst, Jean Arp, and André Masson.<br />
<br />
Born Joan Miró i Ferrà on April 20, 1893 in Barcelona, Spain, the artist
has had several major retrospectives since his first in 1941 at The
Museum of Modern Art in New York, before and after his death in Palm,
Mallorca, Spain on December, 25, 1983 at the age of 90. He has been the
recipient of the Venice Biennale Grand Prix in 1954 and was awarded the
Spanish Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 1980." ~ Artnet.com<br />
<br />
The top corners of the tile are scraped. The tile is
signed "Miró" in the style of artist Joan Miró. The style of the piece
is akin to Miró's work, though his work is often replicated by other
artists. This piece is undated, and has no COA. Please take all of this
information into consideration before purchasing.<br />
