Vintage Original MOMA Picasso Poster


Framed out-of-print original vintage poster from The Museum of Modern Art of New York City (MOMANYC) Pablo Picasso: A Retrospective show (1980), commemorating the MOMA's 1980 exhibit of 970 pieces, including about 380 paintings, 80 sculptures, 155 collages and works in mixed media, 165 drawings, 200 prints, and 10 ceramic pieces. Framed in a metal frame with plastic face.

Many of the pieces later went to the Musee Picasso in Paris, France. "[MOMA's exhibition]...is the most extensive exhibition of Picasso's at ever shown in the United States." The entire museum's gallery space was dedicated to the exhibit. May 22 - September 16, 1980

The frame measures 24 1/8" Width x 35 1/8" Height x 1.25" Depth. There is a wire on the back for hanging. The piece is faced in plastic. The frame is backed in a wood frame and thick paper on the back side. The poster is an offset lithograph on medium-weight paper stock. The poster is preserved in excellent condition. There are scratches to the frame. I don't know the exact metal material of the frame. There is some scratching to the plastic facing.

From MOMA NYC: The museum has no hard data on the number of posters printed and does not have records on this poster. The poster is out of print. They printed over 1,000 at the time of the exhibition. The posters are not numbered or labeled in any way.
